Symbolism Connected To God's Big Hug Prayer Shawls

The prayer shawl pictured on the right was given to a couple who were about to be married. The symbolism connected to this particular prayer shawl is as follows: The dark blue color represents the bride, the color of her birth month, the light blue color represents the groom, the color of his birth month. The purple color in the middle represents God. In the placement of the colors in the shawl, God has been placed in the center because they are putting God in the center of their lives and their marriage. The dark blue and the light blue colors are connected together with purple representing God. The light blue color is on the outer part of the shawl because the husband is to guard the marriage as priest of the home, he is to protect what God has given to him. The dark blue is between the husband and God, God and the husband are protecting the wife and she is to guard her heart and keep it close to God and her husband. The three rows surrounding the entire shawl - the first color is white representing the Holy Spirit, the middle color is red representing Jesus and the outside color is purple representing God. The color green is intertwined in the red color, the green represents the healing Jesus made possible not only in our bodies but our emotions and it also represents our finances. "My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory." The purple, red and white colors are surrounding the entire shawl (representing the Trinity) which says to this couple that God's love is constantly surrounding them, His love is never ending.
Each prayer shawl is made with certain colors in mind. Purple always represents God, red always represents Jesus and white always represents the Holy Spirit. Sometimes the strips are connected with purple, sometimes if there is a need of healing the strips are connected with red intertwined with green which usually represents healing and/or finances. The middle strip is usually made of purple because God is to be in the center of our lives. The color of the shawl is either a favorite color of the individual receiving it or sometimes it is the color of their birth month.
